I’m Caitlin, American expat currently living in Guangzhou, China.

How did we get here? I met my husband in college while studying abroad, and since then we’ve wanted to live outside the US and travel as much as possible. The problem is, we really hate traveling. You know – the getting to your destination part. So, in order to see the world we knew we’d have to live there. Years later, we ended up on our first adventure in the heart of Colombia. After Bogota, we spent a brief time in Mexico, and then were assigned to China. Right now, we don’t know what’s next for us.

When I found out we were moving to Colombia, I found a lot of blogs from young, single 20 and 30-somethings talking about the best bars and traveling every weekend. I had a hard time finding information on what it was like to live daily life and be a parent. Hopefully this can be a resource to the next person looking at life in the U.S. Foreign Service, living with kids in Bogota, Guangzhou or any of the places we end up next.
